Stamford, Conn.— March 21, 2017— Social media entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr. Mikhail Varshavski is headed to El Salvador to work alongside doctors at the Americares family clinic.

Stamford, Conn.— March 9, 2017— Americares is deploying an emergency response team to Madagascar where a deadly cyclone displaced more than 10,000 people this week. Relief workers focused on meeting survivors’ health needs are on their way from Americares offices in the U.S. and Nepal to the African country.

Ensuring the poor and most vulnerable have access to quality health care services is central to Americares mission to save lives and improve the health of people affected by poverty or disaster.

Americares is deeply concerned about the recent executive order on immigration and refugees. Years of deadly conflict in Syria has emerged as one of the world’s most urgent humanitarian crises, with more than six million persons displaced within Syria and over two million refugees fleeing the violence into neighboring Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, including 1 million children.

Americares celebrated the opening of its newest free clinic for the uninsured with a ribbon cutting ceremony in Stamford, Conn., this morning.
