In this elevated role, Dr. Salvador directs the administrative operations of Americares field teams, overseeing all policies and procedures to ensure efficient, compliant and effective global operations. Her responsibilities also include oversight of global safety and security, facilities management and compliance.

Americares has awarded $250,000 to nonprofit organizations responding to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. Twenty-five free and charitable clinics were each awarded $10,000 grants.

Stamford, Conn. – Nov. 17, 2020 – Americares is responding to Hurricane Iota, which made landfall in Nicaragua yesterday as a catastrophic Category 4 storm just 15 miles south of where Hurricane Eta came ashore less than two weeks ago. While Iota is expected to weaken as it makes its way across Central America, the National Hurricane Center warned that the hurricane could bring life-threatening storm surge, catastrophic winds, flash flooding and landslides as it heads to Honduras and El Salvador.

Americares support will include critically needed medicine and relief supplies valued at $2 million plus at least $500,000 in financial support for families and health care centers in affected areas. The record blazes have scorched millions of acres of land, blanketed the region with hazardous smoke, displaced tens of thousands of people and led to more than 30 deaths.
