AmeriCares Appoints David Prettyman Country Director, Indonesia

Expands Free Healthcare To Local Communities

Stamford, CT, December 13 2005 – David Prettyman has been appointed AmeriCares’ Country Director of Indonesia. In this position, Mr. Prettyman will oversee nationwide tsunami recovery efforts, for the nonprofit disaster relief and humanitarian aid agency in Stamford, CT. Mr. Prettyman will be based in Jakarta.

“I am excited to join AmeriCares and to be part of this very important effort to aid the victims of last year’s tsunami and earthquake in Aceh,” says Prettyman. “AmeriCares did an excellent job of providing medicines and other emergency assistance immediately after the tsunami. Over the next three to five years, we hope to make an even bigger contribution to the long-term recovery of this devastated region.”

Mr. Prettyman joins AmeriCares with 21 years of experience designing, implementing and evaluating development programs in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Malaysia. He most recently served as Asia Regional Representative, Chief of Party and Country Director of Indonesia for International Relief and Development. Prior to that, Mr. Prettyman worked in a variety of positions at Project Concern International and CARE International.

Mr. Prettyman began his career in international development as a United States Peace Corps volunteer based in Pekan, Kuantan, Malaysia. He received his Master’s degree in Development Management from The American University and his Bachelor’s degree from Davidson College.
