AmeriCares remains committed to providing relief
The crisis in Darfur continues to worsen as it enters its fifth year, with escalating violence crossing the border into neighboring Chad. More than two and a half million people have been displaced, hundreds of thousands lack access to medicines and health care and hundreds of thousands have died. The need to deliver medicines and medical supplies to the region is greater than ever.
During the most recent escalation in violence, humanitarian aid agencies have been forced to relocate their operations to areas outside of Darfur. Despite these new complicated dynamics, AmeriCares continues with plans to deliver its 10th airlift directly into West Darfur. The airlift to Darfur includes over 15 tons of antibiotics, vitamins and medical supplies worth over $2.7 million.
In addition to our 10th airlift into West Darfur, we are currently working with partners in North and South Darfur to prepare two additional airlifts to ensure that medicines and medical supplies continue to be available to health care providers and the Sudanese people.
AmeriCares is grateful for your ongoing support as we continue our resolve to help people in crisis, wherever they are, whenever they need it.
