AmeriCares Remembers the King of Pop

AmeriCares mourns the passing of Michael Jackson, a cherished supporter of our work saving lives around the world. Michael Jackson’s sudden, tragic death fills us with sadness and remembrance of his good works.

“The Mission of Heal the World, my mission, is healing,” said Michael Jackson. “To heal the world we must start by healing our children. Today we have come bearing gifts for the children of war torn Sarajevo.”

Michael Jackson’s charitable foundation was responsible for an AmeriCares airlift delivering $2.1 million worth of humanitarian aid to the region. The King of Pop’s generosity also helped provide 47 tons of winter relief supplies including medical items, blankets, winter clothing and shoes to benefit the children of Sarajevo.

“AmeriCares is indebted to Michael Jackson for his generosity,” said Curt Welling, AmeriCares president and CEO. “His kindness will stay in the hearts of AmeriCares and the many children he helped through his “Heal the World” foundation”.
