A special AmeriCares delivery of relief supplies to help thousands of families still living in temporary housing arrives in Japan on Sunday, December 25.
On Christmas or any day of the year, items such as blankets, water, soap, shampoo, washcloths, toothbrushes, razors, towels and flashlights remain welcome and needed commodities for tens of thousands of still-displaced survivors.
AmeriCares partner, the Institute of Cultural Affairs will distribute the relief supplies to people living in transitional housing.
Nine months after a devastating earthquake and deadly tsunami struck Japan – the worst natural disaster in the nation’s history — AmeriCares continues its steadfast commitment to help survivors recover and rebuild.
In August, 2011 our Japan team opened an office in Sendai to serve as a base to oversee the distribution of more than $8 million in long-term aid, solidifying our commitment to help the people of Japan rebuild their communities and their lives. AmeriCares long-term recovery initiatives focus on the restoration of health services, reconstruction of damaged facilities, and support for mental health programs.
