AmeriCares Names Ingoglia Director of Emergency Response

  • March 19, 2012

Stamford, Conn. – March 19, 2012 – AmeriCares has appointed disaster response specialist Garrett Ingoglia director of emergency response. In his new role, Mr. Ingoglia will be responsible for coordinating AmeriCares worldwide response to earthquakes, floods, famines, hurricanes and other humanitarian crises. The nonprofit global health and disaster relief organization responds to about two dozen emergencies every year, both here in the United States and abroad, delivering medical aid and relief supplies to survivors in need. Mr. Ingoglia previously oversaw AmeriCares U.S. Disaster Recovery Grants Initiative, which is benefiting 62,000 people with more than $600,000 to restore health services after disasters and better prepare communities for future emergencies.

Prior to joining AmeriCares, Mr. Ingoglia spent more than a decade working in emergency management and disaster response. After the 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, he worked to speed disaster assistance grants to New York City. From 2007 to 2008, he led a team evaluating the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s efforts to transition Gulf Coast residents left homeless by hurricanes Katrina and Rita from trailers to more permanent housing. More recently, he served as vice president for emergency management at Hagerty Consulting in Washington, D.C., overseeing multi-million-dollar FEMA contracts.

“We are pleased to have a veteran emergency response expert leading our disaster response team,” said AmeriCares Senior Vice President of Global Programs Christoph Gorder.  “Mr. Ingoglia’s expertise will be particularly valuable for emergencies here in the U.S. since he has a wealth of experience working with FEMA and other agencies.”

Mr. Ingoglia, a New York City resident, earned a master’s degree in public administration from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School and a bachelor’s degree in English and history from Williams College.
