Stamford, Conn. – Jan. 17, 2019 – Americares, the health-focused relief and development organization, today announced the election of Johnson & Johnson Executive Vice President and General Counsel Michael Ullmann to its Board of Directors. Ullmann, whose three-year term begins today, brings to the board 30 years of experience with a global health care company.

In his current role, Ullmann serves on Johnson & Johnson’s Executive Committee and has global responsibility for the company’s Legal, Government Affairs & Policy, Privacy, Security and Health Care Compliance organizations. He has served as general counsel since 2012. Previously, he served as general counsel of the company’s Worldwide Medical Devices and Diagnostics business for six years and has held numerous management positions in the company. Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson in 1989, Ullmann practiced law in New York City.

The Americares Board of Directors oversees all aspects of the organization’s life-changing health programs including its disaster response work and support for under-resourced hospitals and health clinics worldwide. Since its founding 40 years ago, Americares has provided more than $17 billion in aid to 164 countries, including the United States.
Ullmann also serves on the Princeton Area Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees, the Rutgers Institute for Ethical Leadership’s Executive Business Cabinet and the Columbia Law School Board of Visitors.
Ullmann graduated from Cornell University College of Arts & Sciences and earned his law degree from Columbia University School of Law. He and his wife Lisa have lived in New Jersey for almost 30 years and have three grown children living in the Northeast.
