Nearly 50% of the population lives in poverty. Child mortality rates are high and compounding the health challenges, the country is vulnerable to large natural disasters, particularly earthquakes and floods.
We work with local NGOs and the Ministry of Health to provide ongoing medical assistance to address critical health issues as well as immediate and long term disaster recovery aid. Our emergency programs have reached many remote communities devastated by earthquakes and yearly floods that affect millions of people. From delivering critical access to medicine and supplies, to drilling wells and installing water pumps, to restoring health facilities, Americares helps the people of Pakistan recover and rebuild.
