Scarce resources from an economy that remains heavily dependent on one agricultural commodity, cotton, limit access to basic health care for the country’s 29 million citizens.
Working with a local NGO, Americares supports a broad range of health care institutions throughout Uzbekistan. For example, support for a “health train” helps bring medical care to some of the most isolated communities. Aid provided by Americares reaches patients in hospitals, mother-child clinics, rehabilitation centers and orphanages, in addition to sponsorship of community-specific public health initiatives.
Working in Uzbekistan since 1997.
