Mozambique Floods

Weeks of heavy rainfall have caused widespread and catastrophic flooding in Mozambique, with the country’s Gaza and Maputo provinces especially hard hit. Mozambique’s National Disasters Management Institute reports that 85 people have died in the floods and nearly 112,000 survivors have evacuated to 125 shelters. The floods destroyed more than 4,000 homes and damaged more than 175,000 homes.

Americares is preparing our response, working with a local partner to support medical care for flood survivors.
